Meet Krissy

Meet Krissy, a six month old Shiba Inu puppy who made her way to us from a mid-west commercial breeding facility. Krissy has come a long way in a few short weeks! When she first arrived she was shut down and scared of the world. After spending the last few weeks in one of our foster homes she has definitely come out of her shell! She now happily comes out of her crate to greet her foster mom every morning! It took a while for her to venture outdoors too but now loves to spend time outside exploring. She is showing her spunky, adventurous side more and more. She is still figuring out what toys are and is learning how to play with her doggy foster siblings. If you have a dog at home we can do a meet to see if they would be good roommates. But keep in mind Krissy's background and dog roommates might not be the best match for her. Although Krissy is learning to play with the other dogs she does not like them to get too close to her food. This is something that will always need to be carefully managed. Krissy is also picky about her food and isn't food motivated. Because of this training might be a little more of a challenge, unless you have cheese! Krissy loves cheese, especially if it comes in a spray can! Housetraining is coming along nicely and she is learning how to walk nicely on a leash. Taking it slow in new places is a must as Krissy is still easily startled and unaccustomed to many sites and sounds. Although she is ok with being petted Krissy is not the snuggliest of pups and given her breed she seems to be showing typical independent Shiba Inu traits. It's been fun watching Krissy's personality evolve as she becomes more comfortable and confident with her surroundings. It will be another big change as she moves to her forever home so we ask that her adopters take it slow and follow her lead.
