Syllabus
This course has several lessons, each with a progress exam and most with supplemental learning materials, such as videos, illustrations, and/or downloadables.
In this lesson, we explain why it’s so important to know first aid for your pup. We also teach you about healthy dog vitals and how to measure them in your dog, so you can check and see if anything is wrong.
Here, we’ll explain exactly why your dog needs a first aid kit, as well as everything that should go inside it. We’ll also cover what human medications can be safe for dogs and what they can be used for.
This lesson explores how to tell when your dog isn’t feeling well, and then how to determine if a situation counts as a medical emergency. We also let you know what to do in the case of an emergency, as well as what symptoms you should treat in what order if your dog is in crisis.
Dogs can get into things they shouldn’t, and this lesson covers what to do in that case. We’ll share what common foods and chemicals can be toxic for dogs, as well as what to do if they ingest something dangerous. We also explore common illnesses your dog may experience, what their symptoms are, and how to treat them.
In this lesson, we explore how to keep your dog safe in your home and yard, as well as common injuries and how to treat them - and when they need urgent, emergency medical care.
Like humans, dogs can experience seasonal, acute, skin, or food allergies. In this lesson, we’ll cover how to recognize the symptoms in your dog, how to treat them, when it’s an emergency, and how to prevent exposure once you know what they’re allergic to.
Here, we cover what a normal breathing and heart rate is for a dog, so you can tell when something is wrong. We also cover common respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies, what their symptoms are, and how you should respond.
This lesson will teach you what to do if the worst should happen and your pup is choking, stops breathing, or their heart stops. We’ll cover how to perform all three of these maneuvers on variously sized dogs, so you can know how to respond in a major crisis.
This course covers all the previous lessons, to help solidify what you’ve learned and make sure you know everything you need to canine first aid. There’s also a final exam to help ensure you’ve mastered everything!
