Meet Stevie, a 6-year-old with a goofy grin, a wagging tail, and a heart that longs for human connection.

Stevie is one of those dogs who tries so hard to be brave in the shelter—but the environment is wearing on him. He is all skin and bones, older, and sensitive, and the stress of kennel life is simply too much. What Stevie needs most right now is a foster home where he can rest, decompress, and finally feel safe.

Stevie’s eyes are usually cloudy but don’t let that fool you—he can see, and he navigates his surroundings just fine. What he truly “sees” best are people. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, sometimes a big kiss, and a joyful eagerness for affection. He loves being close, leaning in for scratches, and soaking up attention—especially a good back rub.

On leash, Stevie can be enthusiastic, but settles and his playful, affectionate personality shines. He enjoys tug games, trades toys nicely for treats, and is relaxed around food. He does well meeting new people and shows friendly curiosity around another dog—social and tolerant, even if he is not ready for full-on play.

Stevie would do best in a foster home with adults or kids 12+, someone who can offer:

A calm, loving environment

Gentle structure and routine

Help with leash manners

Plenty of affection and playtime
