Meet Skylar!

Skylar is truly such a good dog, who definitely seems to have had training in a past life. He is completely potty trained. He knows sit, lay down, and almost has shake/paw down. When you get his leash and harness out, he politely sits and waits to get all dressed up and ready to go with us even asking him to sit!

He’s been doing very well in the crate and is going in and sleeping in it without any issues. He loves to come out of the crate in the morning and roll over so you can meet him with a belly rub!

During the day, he is a great work from home companion, and is very happy to find a spot on his bed, the couch, or ground by you to take a snooze.

Skylar walks very well on the leash. He perks up when he sees a dog, but doesn’t really care too much after that, so he’s a star at continuing to walk and has shown he is dog friendly. Because he is fighting some doggy germs right now, he hasn’t gotten too close to other dogs to show his side by side friendliness yet, but when he gets better, we feel that he would be a good candidate for having a dog sibling with the slow and correct introductions.

Skylar is the perfect energy mix, he loves to chill at home and enjoys being a couch companion, but he also loves walks and has shown he can have great, playful energy outside. Skylar is currently in a city neighborhood, where he does well on leashed walks, but we think he’d love to also have a yard to run in grass too. Skylar seems to be an adaptable dog who will be happy with some human love and whatever outdoors time he can get! We think he’d truly be happy in either environment, city or more suburban.

Skylar is a bit pickier about food, but this could be due to the fact he’s got a doggie cold and isn’t at 100%. He needs a bit of encouragement to eat his meals and will take his time throughout the day finishing them. If we see this change with his improved health from his sickness, we will let you all know this so this behavior can be updated in his notes. That said, he loves treats and takes them like a champ, and is always respectful and gentle with him taking them from your hands.

Overall, Skylar is the definition of a loving dog. He finds comfort in his people and enjoys being in their presence. His invitations for belly rubs, wiggling butt and wagging tail, and appreciation for curling up next to you on the couch display how gentle and loving he is. We think he’d not only be a great companion for any potential adopters, but because of his great behavior, an easy companion that could jump right into someone’s life.
