Meet Karl (ACCT-A-243801)! He's a big, gentle guy with a knack for cuddling. Karl was surrendered to ACCT Philly when his owner's work schedule made them unable to care for him, and he's ready for his second chapter. He loves to lean in for affection and give the best dog hugs!
Karl is a smart boy, already knows sit, walks great on a leash, and passed food aggression and resource guarding tests! He is an excitable boy and plays with his leash but he's easily redirectable.
If you're looking for a loving, cuddly companion who's eager to learn and ready to shower you with affection, Karl might just be your perfect match! ✨ Behavior Notes:
Per volunteer 3/1/26: Kennel Presentation: Whining slightly in kennel with soft eyes, neutral ears, and a loose, wiggly body. Easy to leash (including patience when I dropped my leash and had to remove it and re-leash him).
Leash Skills: Some jumpiness and a brief leash bite (bit then released within about a second), otherwise easy to walk through kennels with little to no pulling.
Sociability: Social in the yard, loved pets once he was finished sniffing around and allowed handling all over. When I took too long at a door or gate to open it, he jumped up and would attempt to grab the leash, but would not take possession. Redirectable from jumpiness with leash pressure and moving along
Play: Chases toys, does not possess when he gets there - no interest.

Per volunteer 2/28: Karl was tested for food aggression and guarding and passed with flying colors. He also did fabulously with all dogs. Though he is an excitable boy and plays with his leash, he knows how to sit and seems easy to train. He is a big cuddler and loves to lean into you with his dog hugs. He will make a great addition to a family with a yard or some place to play!
Per owner 2/25/26: He has been around kids, fine around their grandkids, no issues at all. Likes to play with other dogs, but hasn't lived with them. Has not been around cats so not sure how he reacts. No known medical issues but said he gets skin irritation on his belly so was feeding him grain-free dog food.
Per finder 2/24/26: Was left outside with a sign from his owner. Was calm, happy, and mildly fearful with strangers, has been okay with children, walks well on leash, will pull lightly, and will jump up on people, has been aggressive towards other dogs. Overall friendly, cuddly, shy, scared, quiet, and playful.
