Howdy! This is Oakley - and he is a puppy that came out of the Aspen Acre Fires as his owner decided to drop his pregnant mom as they left and just signed her over. He was born in a foster home and now is ready for a forever home of his very own. Let me tell you a little about him.

Mother appears to be a miniature Australian Shepherd at 28lbs - however our DNA test shows mom was a Border Collie/Mini Aussie mix, and dad was a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix. Dad actually got surrendered too, and he is a very outgoing and athletic 70lb dog that has the best of the two breeds (the nice friendly personality of a GSD, but the physical stability of a malinois). Because the parents are each a deliberate mix of two incredibly similar breeds, it appears that although they weren't wanted when people were evacuating - they were likely bred on purpose.

This means the entire litter is a set of dogs that will be incredibly intelligent. Super athletic. Too smart for their own good. Highly trainable. Extremely motivated. Easy to train but will need a family that will keep us engaged mentally and physically so that we don't become destructive or develop bad habits.

Do you have dreams of a dog that could do agility, dock dog, scent work, etc? That could be this puppy.

Oakley is the biggest guy in his litter, and his are taking the longest for his ears to stand up (although they look like they probably will). I'm a goofy guy who rolls with the flow and loves the idea of whatever event we are about to tackle. He likes kids a lot, and would do amazing with another confident dog or bossy cat. He could hike, run, you name it - just keep him active and engaged.

The puppies were born on July 15th, so will be getting spayed and neutered on September 15th so that they can ideally go to their new legal homes at the two month mark. They have been socialized, have begun crate training (working toward that house training), and are all extremely healthy. They have received 2 distemper vaccines, Bordetella vaccines, topical parasite prevention, dewormer, and are on heart worm preventative. They are also microchipped with registration. The adoption price is $450. We don't expect these kiddos to be with us long once they are fixed.
