Meet Obie Kenobi

Meet Obie Kenobi, a 4½-year-old Miniature Poodle looking for a home where he can spend more time doing what he loves most: being with his person.

Due to changes in his family's work schedule, Obie is currently spending very long days crated while everyone is away. His family loves him and wants to find him a home where he can receive more companionship, attention, and time outside of his crate.

Obie is very much a little shadow dog. He's loyal, affectionate, and happiest hanging out inside with his people. His current family lives on a farm, but Obie has absolutely no interest in the farm-dog lifestyle. He goes outside, takes care of business, and is ready to head right back inside. Because of that, we think he could be perfectly happy in a house, condo, or apartment.

Very affectionate and devoted to his people
Has lived with another dog and generally does well with visiting dogs
Has lived with adults and children
Regularly professionally groomed and does well for his groomer
Does well with baths and tolerates brushing and clippers
Generally does well riding in the car
Crate trained and settles quietly in his crate
Will potty outside when taken out and also reliably uses pee pads
Loves sleeping in bed with his person
Would likely be very happy as someone's one-and-only companion

Obie can occasionally become possessive of his favorite person around other animals. If he's cuddled up on someone's lap and another dog approaches, he may growl or snap to ask for some space. He has never caused a puncture wound or injury to another dog. Another compatible dog may be possible, but we think Obie would be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog.

Although Obie currently lives with a cat, his next home should be cat-free. He has occasionally chased or snapped at the cat when the cat enters his personal space. While he has never injured the cat, we want to set everyone up for success.

Importantly, Obie's family reports that he has never snapped at or bitten a person. He is not food aggressive toward people and allows his family to handle or remove his food bowls while he's eating.

Obie does have some medical history that will be discussed with potential adopters. He has a sensitive stomach and has previously had abnormal liver bloodwork. His family has also occasionally noticed periods of restlessness, pacing, or circling. His veterinary records are available so his future family can continue appropriate follow-up with their veterinarian.

We think Obie's ideal home would be with someone who wants a devoted little companion and has plenty of time to spend with him. He's not looking for grand adventures—he'd much rather be close to his favorite human, curled up somewhere comfortable.
