Pepper is a three-year-old, 50-pound brindle lab mix who was turned in to a shelter. She is at our rescue partner in South GA, and they say she is a confident, social, easygoing girl who has adjusted quickly to each new environment and situation during her assessment. Pepper didn't seem familiar with a car but rode well once she got in. Pepper is an absolute dream on a leash. She walks nicely beside you without pulling or becoming easily distracted. When you stop, she stops. She is very attentive to her handler and simply seems happy to be with you. Pepper is good with other dogs. When Pepper approached a cat, the cat hissed and swatted at her; Pepper turned around and walked away. She showed very little continued interest and respected the cat's correction appropriately. Pepper was immediately comfortable in the foster home. She confidently explored her surroundings and even jumped onto the couch as though household life and couch privileges were nothing new to her. She became playful and excited, happily entertaining herself with toys. Pepper is completely crate trained, settles nicely, and remains quiet in the crate. Pepper does not appear to have much formal training or knowledge of basic commands. However, she is attentive, eager to please, and very handler-oriented, which should make continued training relatively easy. She would make a wonderful addition to a wide variety of homes, including homes with children, other dogs, and cats.
