Meet fleetwood #1

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Fleetwood #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Fleetwood #1 | 1.5-year-old Toy Poodle mix | A tiny, tender soul finding his confidence Fleetwood is a 12-pound Toy Poodle mix who is an incredibly sweet, gentle little guy. He came from the shelter very frightened, and the world is still a pretty overwhelming place for him. He is especially nervous around people and anything unfamiliar, but he is slowly beginning to show glimpses of the dog underneath all that fear. Recently, he started resting his head on his foster, which is a big step for this little guy and a wonderful sign that he is beginning to trust. Fleetwood feels much more comfortable around other small dogs and seems to take confidence from having canine friends around. He has done well being left alone with his foster siblings and has been a perfect angel during those times. He also appreciates a predictable routine, which seems to help him feel safe and secure. He is not particularly interested in toys yet, but he enjoys treats such as cheese, frozen peas, and green beans. The outside world is still very scary to Fleetwood, and walks are not currently his thing. He is frightened by leashes, harnesses, and collars and tends to cower once outside. He has done well using potty pads and is making progress with house training, although adopters should expect some accidents while he adjusts to a new environment. His low energy level is likely related to his fear; once he becomes more comfortable and confident, he may very well blossom into a more active little dog. Fleetwood will need a patient, understanding adult home that is willing to let him progress at his own pace. An experienced adopter who understands fearful dogs would be ideal. He would likely do best with at least one confident, friendly small dog to help show him the ropes, and he seems to prefer women. Because he startles easily, a quiet, adults-only home would be best. He will also need regular grooming, preferably with a groomer who can come to the home given his current fear of unfamiliar people and situations. Fleetwood isn't going to be an instant best friend, but for the right person, watching this little guy slowly discover that the world isn't so scary could be incredibly rewarding. He has already started to show that there is a sweet, loving little companion hiding underneath all that nervousness. With time, patience, routine, and a whole lot of love, we think Fleetwood has the potential to become a very special little shadow.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $450. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 72 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
