Meet Tonya - Tonya is a 9 year old, Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. After years of breeding and providing love to puppies, it’s time for Tonya to be loved. Tonya isn’t asking for much - just a soft place to rest, a family to love, and a home to finally call her own. 

Tonya adores people, is wonderful with respectful children, and has the calm, gentle personality that only comes with age and experience. She’s crate trained and had no accidents since transitioning to the indoor lifestyle. 

While she does coexist with her other foster fur siblings, she would likely thrive in a home where she can have her own space, especially to eat and not be expected to engage with canine companions. Another calm, mature dog would likely be fine. She is fine with her foster’s cat as well. 

Tonya is a big girl at 98 pounds but walks wonderfully on a leash. She spends most of her days napping on the patio or lying in close proximity to her people. She does love to keep an eye on her people and will follow room to room with them. As an older large breed gal, she would benefit from one floor living and not having to go up and down multiple steps daily. She knows the sit command, comes when called and waits patiently for the “ok” to go out the door.

Senior dogs are often overlooked, but they make some of the most devoted companions. Tonya has spent her life giving love and now it’s her turn to receive it. 

Tonya is now spayed and she is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She did have some skin tags and a lipoma that was removed when she was spayed. Tonya did test positive for Lyme disease so she is on a thirty day course of antibiotics.
