Meet august
Meet August (ACCT-A-251827)! This sweet and affectionate boy is a seasoned pro at being a companion, having spent the last three years in a home. He is a social butterfly who absolutely loves people and is described by his previous owners as a very loving, playful, and energetic soul.
August is a smart guy who already knows an impressive list of commands, including his name, Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, Off, and No. He is fully crate-trained and is mostly housebroken, making him a great candidate for a smooth transition into your home. He loves to be where the action is and has a history of sleeping right on the bed with his humans. If you’re looking for a buddy to play fetch or tug-of-war with, August is your man! His favorite treats include pepperoni.
While he can be a little nervous in the loud, busy shelter environment and may take a moment to "pancake" and find his footing outside, he truly shines once he’s in a quiet room or around other dog friends. He would likely thrive in a home with another dog to show him the ropes or a fenced-in yard where he can explore at his own pace.
August is looking for an active family that will prioritize playtime and give him all the snuggles he deserves.

⭐Behavioral Notes⭐
Per volunteer 6/28: This sweet angel girl completely melted my heart. Despite being housed in one of the busiest, noisiest areas of the shelter, August sat so politely in her kennel, patiently waiting for someone to notice her. She calmly let me leash her up and was more than ready to enjoy a peaceful break from the chaos.
And can we talk about those adorable floppy ears? They are absolutely to die for.
August can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take much to win her over, especially if you come bearing pepperoni! Once she realized she was safe, her sweet personality began to shine. She happily soaked up gentle pets and seemed so grateful for some one-on-one time outside of the shelter.
Dogs like August can be easy to overlook because they aren’t the loudest or flashiest, but she has such a gentle, loving soul. She just needs someone willing to give her a little patience, and she’ll reward you with quiet companionship and unconditional love. I truly hope this beautiful girl gets the happy ending she deserves. ❤️
