- Great walking buddy—walks nicely on leash without pulling
- Enjoys fetch and would love regular exercise and mental stimulation
- Excellent travel companion and rides well in the car
- Great house manners in foster care
- Sleeps peacefully in a playpen and keeps his area clean
- Great potty manners in foster - routine is key.
Things to Know
- Rocky would do best as the only dog in the home. He can become uncomfortable when other dogs approach his person for affection and may growl. He is happiest when he doesn't have to compete for his person's attention.
- Rocky has bitten when startled while sleeping. Because of this Rocky should not sleep in bed with his people and should never be touched, disturbed, or startled while sleeping. He needs his own designated sleeping space where he can rest undisturbed.
Rocky is a wonderful dog with a lot to offer the right person. He would thrive with someone who will provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, structure, and affection while respecting his boundaries. Give him that, and you'll have a loyal, smart, and enjoyable companion by your side.

Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) Adoption Process
- Complete our Adoption Survey on the Adopt page of our website at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey to expedite the process and arrange a meet-and-greet. Expect a response within about a week; please check your spam folder. As we're 100% volunteer-run, your patience is appreciated!
Requirements And Donations
- Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS).
- Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.
- Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies.
- Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available.
Location And Hours
- Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; and Saturday 10AM-4PM.
