Meet Gabbee — a 22lb Shiba Inu with a big personality and an even bigger heart (once you’ve earned it). Gabbee’s story started in Saratoga, Arkansas, where she was found standing in the road, barking nonstop and too unsure to trust anyone. She had to be humanely trapped, and at first, she came in all bluster and attitude. But underneath that tough exterior? It only took about 15 minutes for her true, loyal self to start shining through.Like many Shiba Inus, Gabbee is independent, expressive, and very particular about her people. She doesn’t warm up instantly—she needs time, patience, and someone who understands her breed. When meeting new people, she may bark, posture, or even try a quick nip from behind if she feels unsure. Ignoring her and letting her approach on her own terms works best.Gabbee can also be protective of her person. Early on, she showed some strong guarding behavior, especially in close spaces like the bed. With time and trust, she has learned to relax and build positive relationships—but her future home should be mindful of introductions and respectful of her boundaries. The good news? Once you’re “her person,” Gabbee is absolutely incredible.She is: House trained! Crate trained (though she prefers not to be crated). Excellent on a leash! A dream travel companion—she loves car rides. And her personality? Pure entertainment.Gabbee loves to “help” with whatever you’re doing (she’s even been known to appear in YouTube videos). She chases leaves, bubbles, toys, and anything that moves—including the cat (which is why we recommend ONLY dog-savvy cats. She’ll happily “talk” back to you and carry on full conversations. She enjoys baths (yes, really!) and will even watch TV with you. One of her sweetest traits is how gentle and tolerant she is with kids—she absolutely adores her foster's grandchild who's become a friend. Gabbee is equal parts sass, smarts, and affection. She can be a little terror at times, but in the most entertaining way—and when she chooses you, she is loyal, loving, and endlessly fun.Ideal home:Gabbee needs a patient, experienced home—preferably someone familiar with Shiba Inus or similar independent breeds. She will thrive with someone who respects her space, gives her time to trust, and appreciates her quirky, bold personality.
