WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. A puppy-proofed space, a consistent routine, and patience for training are important. Milano will do best in a home that can keep him active and engaged, where he can burn off his energy and show off his playful, adventurous spirit. An active home that can offer supervision, playtime, and positive reinforcement will help him grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.Personality: Milano is a very independent and incredibly smart puppy. He picks up on routines and expectations quickly and is always watching and learning. While he enjoys doing his own thing, he definitely has a playful side and loves chewing on his toys, playing tag, and bursting into the occasional round of zoomies. He has a big appetite and is excellent at communicating his needs. KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Milano is currently working on basic puppy skills, including potty training, crate training, and leash exposure. He is learning household routines and will benefit from consistency, positive reinforcement, and continued practice. With patience and structure, he will continue to make great progress. When he needs to go potty, hell make soft little whining noises to let you know. Milano also does an impressive job respecting household boundaries. He understands which areas are off-limits and will calmly wait in an approved space if you step away for a few minutes. Although hes still a puppy and needs guidance, he shows a level of awareness and self-control that is truly special for his age.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Milano were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so.
