WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. A puppy-proofed space, a consistent routine, and patience for training are important. Luge will do best in a home that can keep him active and engaged, where he can burn off his energy and show off his playful, adventurous spirit. An active home that can offer supervision, playtime, and positive reinforcement will help him grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.Personality: Luge is happiest when hes by your side or snuggled up next to a dog. He truly just wants to be cozy and cuddled as much as possible. Hes recently found his voice and is starting to show a tiny bit of playfulness. Its all part of his adorable, blossoming personality. He loves his chew toys and proudly drags around plush toys that are bigger than he is.KIDS: YesDOGS: Yes, loves to cuddleCATS: YesTraining: Luge is learning how to be in a pen or crate and he is slowly learning how to self-soothe. Hes doing very well with wee wee pad training and is having fewer accidents each day. Luge would thrive with a dedicated adopter who is committed to continuing his crate, potty, and leash training, while also giving him plenty of playtime and affection. A home with another dog would be ideal, as he finds so much comfort and confidence in canine companionship.WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Puppy mills overbreed to the point where they produce more dogs than they can sell. Dogs like Luge were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so.
