Meet phoenix
Meet Phoenix (ACCT-A-243844)! Phoenix is a sweet and loving dog looking for a comfy place to spend her golden years. She came to ACCT at 10 years old when her previous owner could no longer care for her due to their own declining health, but they said she was a wonderful pet. They described her as happy, loving, and someone who loves to be loved and pet.
Phoenix seems to enjoy gentle play and gets along with other dogs. In playgroups, she's shown good social skills, using play bows to communicate. She's also previously lived with a cat! Phoenix enjoys spending time outside, and in her previous home, she spent time in the yard.
She loves treats, and they're very helpful in making her feel comfortable in new situations. While she can be a little unsure at first, with patience and yummy rewards, she warms up quickly. She walks nicely on a leash and enjoys being petted once she knows you.
If you're looking for a loyal companion to shower with love and affection, Phoenix might just be the perfect match for you! She's ready to bring her happy and loving personality into a forever home. Come meet her today!

✨ BEHAVIOR
Behavior eval 3/3/2026:
Kennel Presentation: At the front of her kennel with soft wide eyes, ears back, mid level tail wags. Took the treat that was offered to her gently.
Leash Skills: Easy to leash in kennel and hopped right out. Pulled mildly though the kennels, pulled minimally outside. Walked through the kennels with a loose body, mid level tail wags, ears back.
Sociability: Spent the first half of our time in the yard sniffing around and ignoring the handlers. Would come up to the handlers when called. Allowed all handling and leaned into the handler when receiving pets. She would lip lick when receiving pets, when the handlers stopped she would nudge their hands for more pets.
Play: n/a
Dog Interaction: Saw a dog walk by, gave a good play bow.
Return to Kennel: When the handler went to pick up the leash, she stood over it, barked and then walked away. When the handler picked up the leash she jumped up and bit the leash, the handler threw a treat on the ground and she let go and then bit the leash again. The handler threw another treat on the ground and she let go. There were no further issues with leash biting on the walk back to the kennel. At the kennel she needed a treat thrown in, she has little legs and the step up into the kennel was hard.
Color Level: Blue
Recommendations and considerations: Bring high value treats with you.
Playgroup notes 3/3/2026: No steer test preformed. Good fence greeting with ears to the side, soft eyes and mid tail wagging. Gentle dainty player with good playbows. Good corrections but did not escalate further.
Per staff 02/28/2026: She was stressed during intake exam, panting, pacing and tense. She was eating cream cheese off the door then whipped around and barked when I pinched her back for the microchip, she barked once again when I scanned to make sure the chip was in. I was attempting to put the collar on her and she turned and snapped. ACA was able to put collar on
