Meet strike didonatto
**$50 in pledges for the rescue that pulls**
Strike DiDonatto ACCT-A-242711 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Strike DiDonatto must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by MONDAY, MARCH 16TH at 10AM. Should Strike DiDonatto's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Strike DiDonatto came to the shelter as a stray on February 7th. Since arriving, he has shown himself to be a lively, social, and enthusiastic dog who enjoys time outside, interacting with handlers, and exploring the yard. Strike is a strong, energetic boy who thrives on activity and engagement. Volunteers and staff frequently describe him as sweet, goofy, and friendly, with a wiggly body and eager approach when greeting people.
Strike is an active dog who would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. He loves running around in the yard, chasing toys, and interacting with people. While he can become excited—sometimes jumping or mouthing when overstimulated—he responds well to redirection and settles once he understands what is expected. Handlers note that he often checks in with people, enjoys pets, and knows cues like “sit.” Strike has also shown appropriate social behavior when meeting other dogs through barriers, displaying loose, wiggly body language and curiosity. With structure, exercise, and guidance, Strike has all the makings of a fun and loyal companion. Due to his length of stay, Strike DiDonatto is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter.

Per volunteer 2/19: Medium-high energy. Walked well, can be a little mouthy, loved playing with toy.
Per volunteer 2/17: Medium energy. Mild issues with leash, mouthing, and jumping. Good boy.
Per volunteer 2/14: When I approached him, he came quickly up to the front of the kennel with a wagging tail and excited body language. I easily leashed him and he is incredibly strong on leash – I would recommend a harness for him. Needs a strong handler. In the yard he is high energy and loved to run around. He would chase balls and then run up to me and jump on me pretty forcefully. Will definitely recommend an experienced and stronger dog handler for him. He takes treats out of my hand and isn’t overly treat motivated but will come to me when I get them out. Really enjoys playing with toys. He met another dog through the fence and had a very loose and wiggly body with a mid-level tail. The other dog started to snap at him through the fence and strike didn’t react at all. After he got more comfortable he didn’t act appropriately with treats- I took them out and he jumped up on me repeatedly to try to get them, nipping at my hands. He was overstimulated and jumping up at me. I ended up having to throw a bunch of treats away from me to get him to stop being fixated on me. No more issues after that and he easily went back into kennel for unleashing. Recommend that we bump him up to experienced Blue due to behavior.
Per staff 2/12: Based on behaviors and notes making Blue.
Per volunteer 2/11: Easy to leash, came right to the front. Pulled Mildly, Jumping on you, Leash biting. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue In the pen, strike was curious and explored. I tried to offer him some toys and he briefly tugged on the squeaky toy but when I gave it to him he just dropped it. As I tried getting his attention for a pic he started getting jumpy. It was manageable and we continued walking around the pen. I didn’t drop the leash because of how muddy everything was. After he peed a few times, I tried engaging with him with treats and one or two pets and his jumpiness escalated to leash biting and tugging. He did stop when I tossed a treat. But I didn't have enough treats to feel comfortable staying outside longer with him so we made our way towards the gate entrance. At this point, every time I stopped to open the gate latches or paused, he kept jumping up and chomping at the leash. Once we started moving he would move on with me like a good boy. Through the kennels, he wasn’t a problem. Seemed like if he didn’t know what to do, he’d start jumping. He was a good boy, otherwise.
Per volunteer 2/11: Medium energy. Goofy boy. Jumpy with pets. Mouthy/leash bite in excitement.
Per staff 2/11: Medium-high energy. Mildly jumpy. Extremely powerful!
Per volunteer 2/10: Really sweet, great dog, looks back at me, allows all pets, well behaved.
Per volunteer 2/9: Medium energy.
Per volunteer 2/9: Medium-high energy. Moderately jumpy. Strong, pull, and good on walk and on leash.
