Meet Pookie ACCT-A-241898! Pookie is a 6-month-old male who came in as a stray on 1/24. The finder noted that Pookie was “shy, sacred and quiet.” Upon arrival Pookie had deep infected bite wounds and was transferred to PASE for treatment. He has been noted by staff to be “very sweet”.

Behavior Notes:

Per volunteer 2/1:
Took Pookie outside for some playtime but he was too cold to stay outside for long so we hung out in the volunteer office. He was friendly with everyone as they came and went, lots of tail wags, but very interested in all treats. A bit of counter surfing was going on and some trash inspecting so he’ll need puppy training for that but otherwise, a very sweet, lovely pup!

Medical Notes:

Per PASE 1/26:
-RH intermuscular emphysematous abscessing myofasciitis
-Several bite wounds throughout integument
-Moderate non-regenerative anemia - loss (hemorrhage from wounds vs fleas)decreased production vs other
-Pookie was evaluated and treated for multiple bite wounds with a necrotizing abscess in his right hind leg. While hospitalized, he was maintained on IV fluids, pain medications, and antibiotics. Bloodwork revealed a non-regenerative/pre-regenerative anemia.
The morning of 1/26, Pookie's lameness was improved. His anemia was also improved.

Per an exam on 1/24:
-Dog is dull, depressed and refusing to ambulate. He has deep infected bite wounds w/ regions of surrounding cellulitis on head, limbs, and trunk.
