Meet tyler
Tyler was surrendered to ACCT Philly on 01/10/2026 due to his owner facing serious health challenges and housing issues, leaving them with no safe place for him to go.
Since arriving at the shelter, Tyler has shown himself to be a sweet, sensitive little guy who can be anxious in stressful situations but settles nicely once he feels safe. Volunteers report that outside of the kennel environment, Tyler is calm, mellow, and very people-oriented. He enjoys staying close to his handler, soaking up affection, and calmly watching the world go by. He walks politely on leash, appears mostly housebroken, and tolerates grooming well. Tyler can be mildly sensitive to unexpected touch, particularly around his hind end or over his head, but this is described as very manageable and improves significantly in quieter, calmer settings. Overall, he seems to do best with gentle handling and a patient approach, and he has shown clear improvement once removed from the chaos of the kennel.
Behavioral Notes
Per volunteer 1/14: Tyler was the perfect gentleman and very easy to walk on the leash. He seems house broken and liked to stay close to me enjoying pets and checking out his surroundings. Tyler would explore a little and then often return to sit beside me and watch the world go by. He was calm and mellow and seemed neutral with regard to seeing other dogs. He seems more interested in his handler than dogs. I gave Tyler a long brush out as he was shedding a lot and he was very easy to groom. He can be a little anxious about unexpected touch to his hind quarters or a sudden reach over his head, but very mild. Tyler relaxed significantly once he was outside of the kennel environment as well as when in a quieter room for his grooming.
