Hi. I’m Birdie. I’m learning how to be brave.

Hello, future family. My name is Birdie, and I’m a soft-hearted girl in a big, loud world that I’m still trying to understand. Not too long ago, my life changed very suddenly and I lost my family. I ended up in a crowded shelter, which was… a lot. (I do not recommend it. Zero stars.)

Luckily, I found my way to a foster home, where I decided the safest plan was to stay inside my crate and pretend I was invisible. That worked for a few days. But slowly—very slowly—I started to peek out. Then came a tail wag. Then another. And now? I sometimes even ask for pets. I’m very proud of myself.

I’m a quiet, gentle soul who wants to be brave and is trying really hard to learn how. I’m mostly house trained, fully crate trained (my crate is my emotional support bedroom), and I don’t make much noise at all. I get along well with other dogs and would need a confident canine sibling in my forever home to help show me the ropes and remind me that the world isn’t so scary.

A few important things about me:

Cats? Terrifying. But if they act like I don't exist, I am fine.

Small kids? Too fast, too unpredictable. I’d do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children.

Other dogs? Yes please—especially one who can be my brave best friend.

My foster family has helped me so much after such a hard chapter, and I’m incredibly grateful. Now I’m ready to find a forever home where I can keep building my confidence at my own pace, with patience, kindness, and lots of gentle love.

If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet companion who will bloom with time—and you have a dog who can show me the way—I think we might be perfect for each other.
