● Funny, adventurous little guy with a big personality
● Forms strong bonds with his people and thrives once trust is built
● Equal parts entertaining goofball and devoted companion
● Dog-friendly and does well with dogs of all sizes
● Loves belly rubs, butt scratches, and calm one-on-one attention
● Loves playing fetch — though bringing the ball back every time is optional in his opinion
● Playful and entertaining — will toss toys around to keep himself busy but also may include you by shoving toys at you and making growly noises (it’s just his excited play voice)
● Great hiking and walking companion with good stamina and walks nicely on leash
● Loves going for car rides but may try to explore the driver’s seat or hunt for snacks in the car if not secured
● Very food and treat motivated, and will attempt to sample anything left within reach

His quirky side:
● When meeting new people: prefers calmer, one-on-one attention and can get overstimulated if multiple people try to pet him at once
● Sensitive about being picked up, until he trusts you
● If he finds something he wants but shouldn't have (especially trash), he’ll want to keep it. Positive trade games and supervision work best
● Has nipped / bit when pushed past his comfort level, so he does best with people who respect his signals
● Still working on indoor marking. Belly bands needed for new environments while he continues learning

Pitch is a smart, expressive dog who thrives with a confident owner who appreciates his personality and is willing to build a respectful, trust-based relationship. With clear boundaries, patience, and a good sense of humor, Pitch becomes an incredibly loyal, entertaining, and devoted companion.

Old Dominion Humane Society (ODHS) Adoption Process
- Complete our Adoption Survey on the Adopt page of our website at https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey to expedite the process and arrange a meet-and-greet. Expect a response within about a week; please check your spam folder. As we're 100% volunteer-run, your patience is appreciated!

Requirements And Donations
- Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS).
- Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards.
- Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies.
- Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available.

Location And Hours
- Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; Saturday 10 AM-4 PM.
