Pebbles ACCT-A-236790 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Pebbles must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER OR EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by Sunday, November 30th, 2025 at 10AM. Should Pebbles’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Pebbles is a quiet, gentle young dog who was found as a stray and is slowly learning that the world can be a safe place. While shy at first, she has shown staff and volunteers just how sweet, tolerant, and food-motivated she truly is. Her finder described her as “happy around strangers, animals, and children—just overall shy,” and that perfectly sums her up: tender-hearted, cautious, and deeply lovable.

Pebbles can be nervous in her kennel and may need a little extra time to feel comfortable coming out, but once outside she blossoms into a calm, soft girl who enjoys exploring and taking treats gently. She is often described as “so calm and lovely,” “the best girl,” “so sweet and quiet,” and volunteers consistently note her low to medium energy and easy leash walking once she settles. She has done well meeting other dogs through the fence with loose, appropriate body language.

Her behavior during handling and medical care has been nothing short of incredible. Staff report that Pebbles is “neutral and tolerant of everything” and that “patience and food are her way to go.” During vaccines and exams, she stayed still and focused on her treats, gently eating while allowing full handling—from checking her teeth to lifting her for a spay-scar exam. In quieter rooms, she becomes curious, offering soft sniffs to staff and relaxing enough to accept pets while she enjoys her wet food and cheese. She takes treats delicately, warms up slowly, and appreciates calm reassurance.

Pebbles is shy and sensitive, and she will need experienced adopters or a rescue partner who can give her the patient, gentle support she needs to build confidence. Once she trusts you, her sweet personality begins to glow—she checks in softly, stands close for comfort, and shows her gratitude through quiet companionship.

If you have a calm home and a compassionate heart, Pebbles is ready to meet you. She’s a sweet soul who just needs someone special to help her feel safe and loved.

Per staff 11/18/25: Experienced Adopters

Per staff 11/12/25: Behavior team helped me with Pebbles. Was neutral and tolerant of everything. When vaccinating she would turn back and look at me but turn back and keep eating. Allowed PCR, PE and vaccines. walked her to the back office to get a weight, was hesitant to get on the scale but Becca coaxed her with food. Patience and Food are her way to go

Per staff 11/12/25: Was called to help check in pebbles. when i arrived at her kennel she was sitting on her bed and came up with neutral eyes and a low tail. I was bale to easily leash her. i brought her to the eval room as it is quieter. in the room she had low tail wags and was curious of me and the nurse, sniffing our pants and feet. i offered her some biscuits which she took very gently. i did some handling to see if i could hold her and she was very tolerant and neutral. i was able to open her mouth and check her teeth and the nurse was able to PCR test her.
I made her a bowl of some wet food and some cheese which she ate as i pet her bod yada head. she looked back at the nurse as she was getting her vaccines and went back and forth between watching the nurse and eating her food (all while her body was still). after her vaccines she ate the rest of the food and allowed me to lift her up to check for a spay scar.
We went into the back office to check her weight and a used some chicken fingers which she ate as i lured her onto the scale. She was easy to return and sat back on her bed.

Per staff 11/11/25: TTA for check in, putting on evaluate until able to be checked in

Per staff 11/10/25: Kennel Presentation: At the front of the kennel with wide eyes, ears back and tail down. Took treats gently through the kennel door.
Leash Skills: easily able to leash and she walked out without issue. Tail was down while walking through the kennel with ears back.
Sociability: asocial. Spent a majority of the time in the x pen she was just sniffing around. She did come over and stand next to me allowing handling. She takes treats nicely. Tail stayed down but not tucked, ears to the side and wide eyes.
Play: n/a
Dog Interaction: Met West through the fence and had a low sweeping tail, ears to the side and loose body. Met thumbelina through the fence and had no reaction.
Return to Kennel: walked right into kennel without issue.

Per staff 11/9/25: TTA, when she entered her tail was tucked and she was lip licking throughout the time she was in there. Due to a tense body, lip licking, and her side eyeing when you would get close I think she may need some time. She took treats gently with no problem.

Per finder 11/8/25: Described her as being happy towards strangers, other animals, and children. Overall shy.

Medical Notes:
11/21/25: Cage side evaluation. High FAS, barking, whale eyes. Increased both Trazodone and Gabapentin dosing.

URI 11/12/25:
This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection.
