Meet zeus

Zeus came to ACCT Philly after his former family could no longer care for him. Originally found as a stray and later rehomed, Zeus’s most recent owner said this energetic young dog was simply “too hyper” for their household and struggled with being left alone. Despite that, everyone agreed—he’s a happy, loving boy who thrives on human attention and playtime.

At the shelter, Zeus has shown himself to be a lively, social dog who enjoys exploring, running, and soaking up affection from people he trusts. He loves butt scratches, can get the zoomies when he’s excited, and already knows commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “stay.” He’s still learning leash manners but responds well to guidance and enjoys positive interaction.

Zeus will do best with an active adopter who can provide regular exercise, enrichment, and continued training to help him channel his enthusiasm into good manners. A home with adults who can handle his energy would be ideal. Once he’s settled in, Zeus is sure to make a joyful and loyal companion.

⭐Behavioral Notes
11/09/2025 per staff behavioral eval:
Kennel Presentation: Standing on the bed at the kennel door. Ears to the side, wide eyes and high stiff tail. Would not take any treats from me.

Leash Skills: Pretty easy to leash. Pulled hard through the kennels.

Sociability: Semi social. At first he spent a lot of the time sniffing around the pen or staring out to the yard. I was to a consent pet and he walked away. I found the spot he likes the most being scratched which was his hind end, when I was petting he was doing a tippy tap dance with his back legs. After some time he did come over to me and lean into my legs allowing handling.

Play: I tried squeaking a toy and he had no interest. I then played bow to him and he play bowed back. He then butt tucked and zoomied around.

Dog Interaction: Met Thumbelina through the fence, he was loose and wiggly. Then met Lomara on leash, pulled hard to meet face to face he was stiff turned his face to the side and high tail. He sniffed and then tried to zoom around.

Return to Kennel: He stopped at the door, pulled back on the leash and I had to use leash pressure to go back in kennel.

Color Level: Blue

Recommendations and considerations: This dog would do best in an adult only home.
