zoe

Meet Zoe — Our Spicy Little Shih Tzu Zoe is about 7 years old and full of personality.  She’s a classic shih tzu with a cute face, a big attitude, and a whole lot of opinions about how the world should work. Zoe can be nippy and snappy, especially with new people or when she feels unsure.  She’ll need an adopter who understands that some dogs need time, patience, and structure to feel safe. The right person will go slow, set boundaries, and let Zoe settle in at her own pace. The good news? Zoe is very treat‑motivated, which makes training and trust‑building much easier.  Once she decides you’re her person, she’ll show you her sweet side — but she needs someone willing to put in the work to get there. Zoe should go to a home with no young kids, and ideally someone experienced with small dogs who have a little spice. If you’re the kind of person who loves a project pup with a big personality, Zoe might be your girl. Www.barktownrescue.org/adopt ZOE'S ADOPTION FEE IS $200The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    October 22, 2026, 2:56 pm
