Chey (Cheyenne) is a gentle soul who is looking for a quieter kind of life, one filled with soft places to land, kind people, and plenty of time spent simply being together.

Chey found herself surrendered to a southern  shelter after her owner became ill and extended family members were unable to care for her. With so much change in her world, it’s understandable that she can be a little nervous about change. But give her some gentle hands, a little patience, and a whole lot of love, and she’ll start to feel safe. Once she settles in, Chey’s favorite place is wherever her person happens to be. The couch? Perfect. A cozy spot nearby while you go about your day? Even better. She’s a certified couch potato who would be more than happy to spend her days keeping you company.

Chey would be an especially lovely companion for someone looking for a calm, easygoing friend, including a senior who would appreciate having a quiet little shadow. She does well with older children, although a busy, chaotic household may make her nervous, so a more peaceful home would be her preference. She’s also a quiet girl who doesn’t need a lot of excitement to be happy.

Chey has some impaired vision, but she isn’t blind, and she manages remarkably well. She may walk a little to one side or tilt her head as she tries to get a better look at things, but she navigates her world just fine. She handles full flights of stairs very well, too, and apparently believes they make an excellent observation deck, because she enjoys sitting on the steps and keeping an eye on everyone below!

She coexists nicely with dogs of all ages and sizes, though she would probably feel most comfortable sharing her home with more laid back dogs. Chey is not entirely housebroken, so she’ll need a little patience and understanding as she continues to work on that.

Chey isn’t asking for much. Just a safe home, a comfortable couch, a person to love, and the reassurance that she doesn’t have to start over again. If you have a soft spot for the quieter souls who simply want to be near their people, Chey might be just the companion you’ve been looking for.

Chey is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and will be able to head home with a furever family on or after 10/24.
