sonny

Say Hello to Sonny! Looking for a big, shy and sweet, fun-loving guy? Then you need to meet Sonny. Sonny is a handsome male Mastiff mix weighing 62 pounds and estimated to be 1-2 years old. He was found as a stray, and sadly, no one came looking for him. This sweet boy is ready to leave his stray days behind and find the family he’s been waiting for. And what does Sonny think is the best thing in the world? Fetch! Throw a ball in one of our play yards and Sonny is on it. He has a high energy level and loves running, playing, and having a good time. We can just imagine him living his best life with a fenced-in yard where he can zoom, romp, and show off his impressive athletic skills.Sonny is also a total sweetheart. He’s playful, affectionate, and eager to interact with his people. He does have some leash manners to work on—when Sonny sees something interesting, he’s ready to go, go, GO! Because of his size and strength, he’ll need a strong, confident handler who can help him learn that walks are about strolling, not towing your person down the sidewalk. A little general training would do wonders for this big boy. Sonny is ready to learn how to walk nicely on leash, build his confidence, and discover that the world is actually a pretty wonderful place. With patience, consistency, and some tasty treats, we think this smart guy could become an awesome companion. His compatibility with cats, dogs, and children is currently unknown. As always, a meet and greet with resident dogs is required.Sonny is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, which means you can welcome him into your home while he completes his veterinary care, including his neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and heartworm disease testing. If you’re ready for a playful adventure buddy who will keep you laughing and your tennis-ball supply very busy, Sonny just might be your guy. To meet Sonny, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and complete a dog adoption application online. Sonny’s adoption fee is $160.
