Meet ahlee
Ahlee will play for as long as you let him, but the second you pick him up he settles right down, and before long he is asleep in your lap.
He is a dachshund and terrier mix, about a year and a half old and fifteen pounds, with a brindle coat, a dark muzzle and a long tail he carries high when he is on the move. He came to Petersburg Animal Care and Control as a stray.
He plays hard, and when he is done he comes back, sits right at your feet and looks up to see what is next. At a recent adoption event he met a lot of kids and did great with every one of them. He is fully grown, so the size you meet is the size you get, and at fifteen pounds he can go just about anywhere you go.
A few honest things before you apply. Ahlee has a lot of energy for a small dog, so he needs daily walks and real playtime. He can come on strong with other dogs, so if you have one, it should be an easygoing dog who does not mind his enthusiasm, or a confident one who can calmly let him know when enough is enough. He has not been around cats that we know of, so we cannot tell you how he would do with one.
We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability. Email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com to set up a visit or learn more today.
