Riya is a small, stout, silky-smooth senior sweetheart who may occasionally resemble a sentient potato, but this sweet girl still has plenty of spunk left in her—and tail wags!

Her previous family described her as friendly, loving, and laid-back, and her foster has been seeing that same sweet nature firsthand: “Riya is a love bug. She will follow you around the house and loves nothing more than a good petting session!," "She does a fun little happy dance when I get up in the morning and every time I come back home. She snores like an old man. She is basically a living stuff animal."

Riya also enjoys the finer things in life, including leisurely walks, little adventures, some pets, and plenty of time to simply hang out with her people. And when the mood strikes, this golden gal will be sure to surprise you with a serious case of the zoomies! As she works toward a healthier weight with some extra activity and well-deserved walks, we suspect her “fitness program” will become even more impressive.

Because Riya is working on her weight and has medial patellar luxation, a home that isn’t too stair-and/or-climb-heavy would be especially helpful for her, allowing her to get around comfortably without putting unnecessary strain on her legs. She also a few other conditions that require daily medication for life, but she takes them like the trooper she is!

Whether she’s strolling beside you, enjoying a cozy day at home, soaking up some pets, or suddenly deciding it’s time to GO GO GO, Riya is ready to show you that getting older doesn’t mean losing your sparkle. She’s sweet, affectionate, easygoing, loves being close to her people, and still has plenty of life (and zoomies!) to share.

Riya may be a little bit potato, but she’s also 100% precious. So if you’re looking for a loving companion with a sweet soul, a penchant for cuddles, and just enough senior spunk to keep things interesting, this charming little lady may be your perfect match!

This dog is considered a mixed breed because it’s not accurate to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess. We get to know each dog as an individual and strive to make matches based on personality, not on breed label.
