Winky is five pounds of tiny Yorkie perfection who is finally getting the chance to discover what being a dog is all about.

Winky spent her first eight in a puppy mill before coming into rescue, so just about everything in her new world is an adventure. She’s learning about affection, being handled gently, household routines, and all the little things that make a dog feel safe and loved. And she’s making wonderful progress.

She’s sweet, smart, and has a very low-key approach to life. Think professional couch potato. Winky is perfectly happy hanging out with her people and soaking up the good life. She’s also a medium-level conversationalist—she’ll let you know when someone arrives at the door or when she has something important to say.

She’s working hard on her leash skills and isn’t quite ready to lead the neighborhood parade just yet. For now, she’s perfectly happy being carried around in a pet sling while she takes in the sights. Her new family will need patience and time as she continues learning that walking on a leash is a perfectly normal—and possibly even fun—dog activity.

Winky is potty trained on a routine, and she does well when her schedule is consistent. A family that is home more often would be a wonderful fit because it would allow her to keep the routine she’s already familiar with.

She’s also still figuring out the whole concept of “personal space.” At five pounds, Winky doesn’t always realize she’s directly under your feet, so her people will need to be mindful of where this tiny girl is hanging out. She’s little, she’s adorable, and she has absolutely no idea that she’s little.

Winky would enjoy having a canine companion to help show her the ropes, but it’s not a deal breaker. She’s dog, cat and kid friendly but should live with older kids/dogs who could respect her size. What matters most is that she continues to have opportunities to socialize, explore, and build confidence at her own pace.

Winky’s Style: Modern hippie. Bell bottoms. Tiny Yorkie. Obviously.

Her favorite hobby: Knitting sweaters. Because winter is coming. Brrr. 🧶

Her walk-out song? “Barbie Girl” by Aqua.

Because Winky is living in a Barbie world now—and frankly, we think she deserves the pink convertible, too.

Winky is up to date on all of her veterinary care, has no known medical concerns, and doesn’t take any medications.

Winky doesn’t need a family looking for a dog who already knows how to do everything. She needs someone who will appreciate the incredibly special moment of watching a little dog discover those things for the very first time.

Now she’s ready for her next chapter—and we’d really like it to involve a soft couch, a patient person, maybe a Yorkie friend, and approximately 47 tiny sweaters.

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
