Meet Ommi — A Gentle Heart Ready for Her Forever Home

Ommi is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how anyone could have overlooked her.

At about 2 years old and 35 pounds, this adorable Cattle Dog/Pit mix is the perfect combination of adventurous and affectionate. She can happily head out for a long hike with you and explore the world, then come home and curl up beside you on the couch for a serious snuggle session.

Ommi came from a reservation where she lived outside with about 20 other dogs. The dogs had to compete for food, and because Ommi isn’t a fighter, she became very thin. Despite that difficult beginning, she has remained an incredibly sweet, gentle, trusting girl.

Ommi loves people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She plays beautifully with her canine friends, but she’s also incredibly polite. On a recent long hike, she encountered both dogs and people and was completely non-reactive. She doesn’t jump on people or dogs—instead, she’ll simply stop for a polite sniff and then carry on with her adventure.

She has the sweetest manners when taking treats, too, with an exceptionally gentle mouth.

At home, Ommi is the perfect mix of active and cuddly. She loves adventures and walks, but when it’s time to relax, her favorite place is snuggled right next to her person on the couch. She is affectionate without being overwhelming and seems happiest simply being near you.

Ommi is house-trained, knows some commands, and rides well in the car. She’s currently working on crate training and does eventually settle when crated. She would love a home where she can gradually earn the freedom to be part of the household.

Ommi doesn’t need another dog in her home—she would be perfectly happy being your one-and-only—but she certainly enjoys playing with other dogs.

We haven’t had her around cats, so her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.

Ommi is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She still has a little weight to gain, but she’s well on her way to being a healthy, happy girl.

Ommi has already shown how much love she has to give. All she needs now is someone to give that love to. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who can join you on an adventure, then come home and curl up beside you on the couch, Ommi might just be your girl.
