Hi, I’m Gustav!
I’m a gentle, calm, and easygoing guy who would much rather relax than run around. Bedtime is my favorite time of day! I enjoy my toys and prefer solo play, though I’m happy to coexist with calm dog friends. I’m great with kids, too!
I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give me a couple of minutes and I’ll warm right up. I’m still learning some important things like potty training, basic manners, and leash walking, but I’m ready to learn! I’m not a big fan of my kennel and may let you know with my voice, but I eventually settle down.
I’m a curious guy who likes to explore, so my family will want to make sure I’m always safe and secure! I’m not quite sure what I think about cats yet since I haven’t met any.
If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back companion who enjoys toys, quiet time, and plenty of cozy evenings, I might be your guy!

Gustav is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/26/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
