3 yr old gray / white F pitbull mix  - will need very patient foster / adopter

Keesha was pretty shut down in the shelter environment, but improved markedly in only a short time out in the yard. She has a lot of potential with a patient handler and will likely come out of her shell once she feels safe.

My name is Keesha. I’m 3 years old and I weigh 64 pounds. I was terrified in the shelter environment.

But today… something happened. Today, someone took me out of my kennel

I walked with them to the yard. I was nervous at first. I didn’t know what was going to happen.

So I stood quietly. But they waited. And little by little… I relaxed. I took treats from their hand.

I stood close to them. And when they reached out to pet me… I let them.

I let them pet my head. My neck. My back. I didn’t pull away. For a little while, I felt safe

And I wondered… Is this what it feels like to be loved?

I’ve had a hard life. I’ve had litter after litter of puppies. I also appear to have had puppies recently. My fur is patchy. My nails are overgrown. My body shows the years of not being cared for properly.

I’m still trying. I’m scared. I’m quiet. i need time - time to come out of my shell on MY timeline.

But today I showed someone that there is a dog underneath all that fear.

A dog who wants to trust. A dog who wants to trust. A dog who wants to be near you.

A dog who wants treats and gentle pets.

A dog who deserves to finally know what it feels like to have a family. I just need someone to give me time.

Someone to look into my eyes and say… “Keesha, you’re safe now. You’re finally home.”
