Donut is a sweet little girl who was rescued from a terrible puppy mill case. She spent much of her life in an environment where she had little to no opportunity to experience the things a normal dog should know. She is now finally getting her first real chance to learn what life outside of a puppy mill can be like.Donut is incredibly sweet, but she is still very fearful and unsure of the world around her. She is learning how to walk on a leash and is slowly beginning to experience new people, places, and everyday life. These things may seem simple to most dogs, but for Donut, they are completely new experiences.Because she spent so much of her life in a puppy mill with extremely limited socialization, Donut may struggle with many of the things other dogs take for granted. She is not potty trained and will need patient, consistent training. Normal household sounds, new environments, people, and everyday experiences may initially be overwhelming. She will also be a flight risk while settling into a new home, so secure doors, gates, fencing, and extremely careful leash handling will be essential.Donut needs an adopter who truly understands what it means to bring home a former puppy mill dog. She will need time to decompress, patience as she learns, and someone who is willing to work through the challenges that come with her past rather than expecting her to immediately adjust to life in a home.Despite everything she has been through, Donut remains a sweet girl who is trying her best. Every step she takes on a leash and every moment she becomes a little more comfortable is a huge victory. With the right person, we believe she can continue to build confidence and finally experience the safe, loving life she should have had all along.
