This sweet, scruffy black Pomeranian came from a terrible puppy mill case and is finally getting the opportunity to learn what life outside of a tiny cage can be like. He is a bit more shy and reserved than some of the other dogs from the case, but he is slowly beginning to adjust to his new surroundings. He is learning how to walk on a leash and is starting to experience the world beyond the only life he has ever known. He can be nervous when faced with new people or experiences, so he will need someone willing to move at his pace and celebrate the small victories along the way.He is dog friendly and does well with other dogs. Having a confident canine companion may help him continue to build confidence as he learns that the world can be a safe place. Due to his fearful and reserved nature, he would not be a good fit for a home with children. He will do best in a calm environment with an adopter who understands his needs and is willing to give him plenty of time to decompress and adjust.Like all of the dogs from this puppy mill case, he is not potty trained and will need patience, consistency, and training. He has had very little socialization or exposure to normal household life, so new experiences may be overwhelming. He will also be a significant flight risk while settling into a new home, making secure doors, gates, fencing, and careful leash handling extremely important.He may take a little longer to come out of his shell, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a wonderful personality waiting to emerge. He just needs someone patient enough to give him the time and security he has never had. With consistency, compassion, and love, we believe he can continue to make progress and become the happy little dog he deserves to be.
