Poppins is a stunning 5-year-old Golden Retriever with a rich dark golden coat and beautiful wavy fur. Weighing in at 73 pounds, this lovely girl came to us from a commercial breeder and is now searching for the patient, understanding family she has always deserved.

It's clear that life has not been kind to Poppins. She is very scared and nervous in new situations, often keeping a watchful eye on her surroundings and looking for an escape route when she feels unsure. Despite her fears, Poppins shows just how much potential she has. She walks reasonably well on a leash, though she tends to circle around her handler for reassurance, and if you kneel down quietly beside her, she'll gently come over for pets and affection.

Poppins is looking for a calm, loving home committed to helping her build confidence at her own pace. Because she can become startled easily, strict leash management is essential. We recommend double-leashing when out and about, and even in securely fenced yards, she should remain on a leash or long lead until she is fully settled, comfortable, and bonded with her family.

One thing that would make Poppins especially happy? A confident canine companion. Another friendly dog in the home would be a tremendous help in showing her the ropes and helping her learn that the world isn't such a scary place after all.

Poppins may not be ready to be the life of the party, but she is a good mama with a gentle heart who deserves the chance to finally relax, feel safe, and experience the love she's missed for far too long. With patience, consistency, and kindness, we believe this beautiful girl will continue to blossom into the wonderful companion she's meant to be.

She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. She is also scheduled to get a dental evaluation and will receive the dental as the vet deems necessary. Poppins arrived to us with one missing ear - she has the ear cannel but is missing the ear flop.
