LunaLoo is fostered in Sioux City, Iowa.

Meet LunaLou – a very sweet and young Australian Shepherd & Border Collie mix puppy. LunaLou ended up at animal control and her owners never came to pick her up. At 8 months old, she is still very much a puppy.  She is very sweet and snuggly but also highly energetic and resourceful. She loves all the people she meets and plays well with other dogs. She gets along with the resident dogs and even loves to snuggle with them. She does not care to play a ball or frisbee but loves toys that he can chew, or the stuffed toys she can rip apart.

LunaLou has not had much training in her previous life, but she is smart and learns some things quitefast. In the past several weeks she has learned ‘sit’ and ‘kennel’ (although she does not like to be closed in the kennel for long). She appears to have been puppy pad trained for indoors, so her foster home is working on potty training.  She is now giving suble hints and wil need to continue a diligent schedule to master this. She has a few fears of being alone so an adopter who is home more often than not AND has another dog is best for her. This is an area that her foster home continues to work on and also will require an adopter to continue this focused training.  

She is intelligent, curious, and loves to get into things. She has been known to counter surf when nobody is watching or get into trash, so her foster home is still continually working on house manners. She grudgingly respects a firm “no”. She eats everything and loves fresh fruits and vegetable as a treat. She is a real cuddler and would love to sleep with people but will also sleep on the couch or in her dog bed in the living room. She did well during a bath and nail clipping in her foster home, although not exactly enthusiastic about it,

LunaLoo also loves going on walks, although being a puppy, she is still mastering nice leash walking skills. Luna Lou loves cats – especially to chase them - so a household with dog savvy cats, or no cats, is probably best.  Because of her high energy, she might not be a best match for a household with small children.

Needs:


 A home with a secure, fenced-in yard
Intellectual and physical stimulation
An adopter who is home more often than not
An adopter to continue her focused training on being left alone and in her crate
Another confident dog in her home


LunaLoo is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.
