Colt is a 2yo tan M pitbull

MEET COLT

Staff Notes: Stand off-ish with people but does well with dogs smaller than him in size. Very playful with puppies.

 

Kennel Presence: Approaching kennel Colt showed us his sad puppy face. He was hesitant and cautious when first being leashed, but he is highly food motivated and easily coaxed with high value treats.

 

The act of leashing him is still a point of high anxiety and he has some handling sensitivity around this process. His person must be willing to work with him patiently so he can overcome this initial hurdle. Once the leash is on, there is a brief moment of hesitation, but when he is comfortable, he walks well.

Dog to Dog: We tested Colt with (male) Blaze and (female) Lae’zel, he was an absolute superstar! He was loose leash with both dogs and interacted beautifully. He loves other dogs! His confidence completely skyrockets when a canine buddy is around, and he uses their presence to help him relax and navigate his surroundings.

Colt will thrive best in a home with a social, well-adjusted resident dog who can act as his helper, build his confidence, and show him that humans aren't so scary.

He needs a calm, peaceful home with a predictable routine. His people need to be content letting him exist in their space without demanding affection, allowing him to approach them entirely on his own terms.

Touch: Colt is a gentle, introverted soul who is a bit shy and timid with new people. He didn’t allow touch during our time with him. While he isn't ready for big physical cuddles just yet, he is incredibly polite, takes treats with the softest mouth, and is content coexisting with you in a shared space.

Due to his timid behavior and handling sensitivity, a home with no small children is recommended at this time.
