Tanuki is a senior dog, approximately 12-14 years old, weighing about 69 lbs. He came to a shelter due to mobility issues, originally thought to be caused by unwillingness to move. However, he was diagnosed with lumbar spondylosis, arthritis, and heartworm disease. After treatment and starting a pain management plan, Tanuki has made a remarkable recovery. He now embraces life, grateful for all the love he receives and eager to return it.
Tanuki is incredibly gentle and friendly, especially with kids and dogs, and he might also do well with cats. His two favorite activities are relaxing in a pool and playing fetch, which really bring out his playful spirit. Currently, he’s in a foster home in Brooklyn, NY, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption, provided the adopters can meet him in person.
