Fairy is a sweet, gentle girl who has been waiting for her chance since arriving at the shelter in February. While she can be shy at first, she quickly warms up and reveals an incredibly loving, affectionate personality. She is friendly with people, wonderful with other dogs, and has consistently been a rockstar in playgroups.
Fairy was adopted on June 24, but returned just one week later after killing a kitten in her new home. It is important to note that Fairy's strong prey drive was well documented prior to her adoption. Despite this known behavior, she was placed in a household with cats—a setting that was not appropriate for her needs.
Fairy is not a candidate for a home with cats or other small animals. She requires a pet-free environment when it comes to small creatures, and any rescue or adopter must understand and respect this limitation. With proper placement and management, Fairy has so much love to give and can absolutely thrive.
Her return should not define her. Fairy remains the same sweet, people-friendly, dog-social girl that volunteers have come to know and adore. She deserves a second chance with a rescue or experienced adopter who will set her up for success by honoring the needs that have always been clearly identified.
