Meet Pearl!

Pearl is an 8-year-old Golden Retriever weighing 56 pounds. This shy but sweet girl is still learning that the world can be a safe place and is looking for a patient family willing to give her the time, understanding, and support she needs as she continues building confidence.

Pearl requires a home with another confident dog already in the household who can help show her that it is okay to come out of her shell and provide reassurance as she learns and grows. Having a canine companion helps Pearl feel more comfortable, and when another dog is around, she often becomes more confident and will seek out attention from people and enjoy gentle pets.

Pearl is also still learning how to walk and requires a securely fenced yard where she can safely run, explore, and build confidence at her own pace in a secure environment.

Pearl is currently heartworm positive and receiving care from our staff. She will require a home committed to continuing her treatment and care following adoption. Our team would love to discuss what this process and ongoing care would look like with potential adopters during the meet and greet process to help ensure a successful transition.

A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure a good fit for both Pearl and her potential adopters.

With patience, understanding, and a confident canine friend by her side, Pearl has all the potential to continue blossoming into a wonderful companion. She is looking for a family ready to celebrate the little victories and support her every step of the way.

Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog.
