☀️ Meet Summer — Sweet, Sassy & Full of Personality ❤️
Looking for a dog who will love you fiercely, keep you laughing, occasionally argue her case like she's been married to you for 20 years, and then curl up next to you like none of it ever happened?
Meet Summer. 😂❤️
Summer is approximately 4 years old and a pit bull-type girl with a BIG personality and an even bigger capacity for affection.
This girl is goofy, playful, incredibly affectionate, eager to please and absolutely full of opinions. Summer doesn't just participate in life — she has commentary. She'll make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and then remind you exactly why you fell in love with her when she settles in for some serious snuggle time.
Underneath all that sass is a dog who genuinely wants connection with her people. She thrives with structure, consistency and clear expectations, and we've watched her continue to learn and make progress while in our care.
Summer would do best with someone who is confident and comfortable with strong, intelligent dogs. Pit bull or similar breed experience would be a huge plus. She's not looking for someone to simply let her run the household — although we're fairly certain she would happily accept the promotion. 😂 She needs someone willing to continue giving her the guidance, boundaries and consistency that help her be her best self.
🐾 What about kids?
Summer has been slowly and appropriately introduced to a young child while in our care, and those interactions have been positive. She has shown herself to be gentle, interested and affectionate.
That said, we're still getting to know Summer in different situations and levels of excitement, so we believe a home with older, dog-savvy children may ultimately be the best fit. Any home with children would be evaluated individually.
🐶 What about other dogs?
This is something we're still learning about.
Summer's interactions and comfort level with other dogs are continuing to be evaluated. Because of that, we're not going to label her “dog friendly” or “not dog friendly” yet.
For now, homes with another dog will be considered case by case, with thoughtful introductions and appropriate management. We want to make decisions based on the individual dogs involved rather than rushing to put a label on her.
And that's really our philosophy with Summer in general:
We're looking for the RIGHT home, not simply the fastest one.
Summer needs someone who appreciates a dog with personality, understands the importance of structure and is willing to continue building on everything she's learning.
In return?
You'll get a hilarious little sidekick.
A snuggle buddy.
A girl who will probably have something to say about your decisions.
And one incredibly loving dog who bonds deeply with her people. ❤️
Summer is officially available for adoption through SDBP CT Rescue, and applications are now being accepted.
If you've been watching this sassy girl from the sidelines thinking, “I kinda love her…”
Well...
Maybe it's time we talked. 😉❤️
