Meet Dutchess, a sweet, goofy girl who believes life is meant to be enjoyed—preferably with a toy in her mouth and her favorite people nearby. Equal parts playful puppy and devoted sidekick, she’s the kind of dog who wants to be part of whatever you’re doing and somehow makes ordinary days more fun.

During the day, Dutchess is ready for adventure, walks, exploring, and playtime. By evening, she’s happy to curl up on the couch and settle in for quality time with her people. She loves being close and has perfected the art of the gentle lean—whether you’re cooking in the kitchen, moving around the house, or relaxing, there’s a good chance Dutchess will quietly appear nearby (preferably making physical contact whenever possible).

She’s still a little shy with new people and likes the chance to check things out at her own pace. She approaches cautiously and may get startled if someone comes on too quickly, but she warms up beautifully once she realizes she’s safe. Give her a little time and you’ll get to see her affectionate, playful side come shining through.

Dutchess enjoys walks and does wonderfully on leash, especially when she gets opportunities to stop and investigate the world around her. She’s surprisingly athletic and would happily join longer outings, but she’s equally content entertaining herself at home. Rubber squeaky balls are her absolute favorite, and she has an amazing habit of pouncing on toys like a fox. Outside, she occasionally gets hit with joyful zoomies that turn into rolling, somersaulting, and dramatic mouthfuls of grass. She also takes her self-appointed job as Yard Inspector seriously—occasionally requiring thorough investigation of suspicious outdoor objects before continuing with important business.

She’s house trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, knows sit, and is extremely food motivated—which makes continued training a lot of fun. She’s still polishing some puppy manners and can get excited and jumpy at times, but she’s eager to learn.

Dutchess has done well sharing space with other dogs but would likely do best with a dog who matches her energy and doesn’t mind an enthusiastic play style. She enjoys canine company but sometimes needs reminders that other dogs have boundaries. Cats aren’t recommended, and rabbits are simply too tempting to chase.

Dutchess originally came into rescue sick, and as she recovered, her personality slowly started to bloom. Watching her rediscover play, confidence, and joy has been incredibly rewarding. Now she’s ready to find a family of her own—one that will appreciate her sweet nature, laugh at her goofy moments, and enjoy having a loyal little shadow always nearby.
