Meet Captain Crumbs—"Crumbs" to his friends! This adorable 3-year-old Dachshund/Terrier mix is the perfect sidekick for all of life's adventures. He's the ideal size to tag along on errands, rides beautifully in the car, and enjoys exploring the neighborhood on walks.

Crumbs is a curious, goofy guy with a medium energy level. He loves investigating the backyard, keeping an eye on what you're up to, and being wherever his favorite people are. Once he's had a chance to burn off a little energy, he's more than happy to curl up for snuggles and relax by your side.

Crumbs gets along well with other dogs but would also be perfectly happy as your one and only. He's crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and is doing great with his potty training when given regular potty breaks. He enjoys chew toys, is starting to discover the fun of tennis balls and plush toys, and is always up for a little adventure.

Like many little dogs, Crumbs takes his job as home security very seriously! He'll let you know when visitors arrive and can be cautious with unfamiliar people, so he'll do best with slow introductions and a home that doesn't have a constant stream of guests. Because he barks when first left alone, he'd be happiest in a house rather than an apartment. Older children would also be the best fit, as he can get a little mouthy during play.

Crumbs is happiest when his family is nearby and will thrive with people who can continue building his confidence, provide daily exercise, and show him that he doesn't have to be the neighborhood watchdog. He's currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is well on his way to recovery—his foster family would be happy to answer any questions about his care.
