Hi, I’m Hudson! I’m a 5-year-old Lab mix with a big heart and, well… a little extra fluff. Right now I’m tipping the scales at about 91 pounds, but my foster dad says I’m already on my way to a healthier weight. My goal is to lose around 20 pounds, and honestly, I’m pretty excited about it because it means more playtime, more adventures, and more fun.

My story is a little bittersweet. I loved my mom very much. As she got older, she developed dementia, and sometimes she would forget that she had already fed me. Of course, being a Labrador, I never forgot! Between all those extra meals and not getting many walks, I ended up carrying around quite a few extra pounds.

As time went on, my mom needed more help than anyone could give her at home. She sometimes wandered away, and eventually she moved to a place where people could take good care of her and keep her safe. I miss her, and I still think about her, but I’m happy knowing she’s being looked after.

For a little while, I didn’t know what would happen to me. There wasn’t family nearby who could take me in right away, and I even spent a couple of days at home with kind people stopping by to bring me food, water, and check on me. Then some wonderful news came along. A family member in North Carolina reached out to the rescue, and soon I found myself with an amazing foster dad.

My foster dad has two younger dogs, and let me tell you—they keep me moving! We play together every day, and I’m having the best time. Between all the activity and my special diet food, those extra pounds don’t stand a chance.

If you ask me what I love most, the answer is easy: EVERYTHING! I love car rides and sticking my head out the window to feel the breeze. I love meeting new people because I believe everyone is my friend. I love other dogs and am so happy not to be lonely anymore. And I absolutely LOVE water.

In fact, during my photo shoot, I spotted a decorative fountain and decided it looked perfect for a swim. Apparently another Labrador had the exact same idea earlier that day! My foster family says I should probably save my swimming adventures for puddles, lakes, and pools, but I make no promises.

What I’m looking for now is a family to call my own. I’d love an active family that enjoys walks, adventures, and maybe even some water fun. Kids would be wonderful, and canine siblings would be great too. Mostly, I’m looking for people who will love me as much as I’ll love them.

I’ve been through a lot, but my tail never stops wagging. I know my mom is in good hands, and now I’m ready for my next chapter. I hope you will ask to meet me!
