Meet maeve
Meet Maeve!This sweet girl didn't have a great start to life. She came to us incredibly matted - so matted that it was painful, she couldn't see, and every touch was terrifying because she couldn't see it coming and didn't know what was happening.She's only about 18mo old. With how matted and overgrown she was, she had probably NEVER been groomed. Considering she is a maltese/yorkie mix, you can imagine how that must have looked/felt for her.Maeve is, understandably, wary of the world. She's only about 12lbs and the world is ENROMOUS and there is a lot that she doesn't understand. It's not her fault. She's just a baby and there are so many things she's never been exposed to and so many experiences she's never had. Getting her used to walking on a leash was a process but one of our dedicated staff members has taken it upon herself to make Maeve her "project" and Maeve has come a long way!Maeve will need a family that has the time and patience to invest into her. They will need to understand that she can and will snap/nip out of fear so going slow with her is a MUST. She does well with other dogs (bouncy, high-energy dogs do spook her so calmer, low-key dogs would be best) and she does well with cats. We are looking for an adult only home but older teenagers should be fine.Once Maeve trusts you, she's a velcro pup. She just wants to be inside of your skin with you. She'll snuggle up in your lap, you can pick her up, touch her all over, etc. You just need to put in the work to get to that point with her.To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application.
