Meet sweet pea the angel eyed darling

Sweet Pea has the kind of face that could convince you to hand over every treat in the bag and apologize for not doing it sooner. Between those enormous deep brown teddy bear eyes, her floppy ears that bounce with every step, and her sweet, innocent little spirit, she looks like a stuffed animal that somehow came to life. She may be a little shy when she first meets someone in a new environment, but give her a moment to realize she is safe and her gentle, affectionate personality begins to shine. She truly is just a sweet little baby angel looking for someone to love and spoil her.

Sweet Pea is approximately 7 months old and currently weighs around 32 pounds. We believe she may be a German Shepherd and Labrador mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses.

Sweet Pea is dog friendly and has done wonderfully with every dog we have introduced her to. She is currently fostered in a multi-dog household and has gotten along well with dogs both bigger and smaller than her. She can be a little shy when first meeting a new dog, especially if they are larger and bursting with energy, but she warms up quickly and makes friends fast. When Sweet Pea plays, she still has the most adorable puppy-like innocence about her. Her playstyle is gentle, lighthearted, and bouncy without being too wild or too boring. She would much rather enjoy a happy game of chase than throw herself into a full-blown wrestling match. She could be a wonderful match for another dog who enjoys playful companionship without needing to turn every playdate into a WWE event.

Sweet Pea also met our house cat Biggie and handled the introduction beautifully. She was appropriate and very respectful, did not chase him, and was not bothered by Biggie jumping around or doing the unpredictable things cats tend to do. Biggie felt comfortable around her too! We do not know whether Sweet Pea has ever lived with a cat, and this was our first time seeing her interact with one. If you have a cat at home, we can arrange a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!

This smart little girl is already crate trained and generally comfortable relaxing in her crate. She has also shown us wonderful house manners so far. Sweet Pea is still young and learning where the appropriate potty places are, especially when adjusting to a new environment, but with a consistent routine and frequent potty breaks, we believe she will continue getting the hang of it as she grows. Sweet Pea loves treats and is already proving how intelligent she is. She knows how to sit, walks well on a leash, and takes treats so gently. Training should be a wonderful way for her to build confidence, bond with her future family, and keep that clever puppy brain busy.

She absolutely loves running and playing outside and would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can bounce around to her heart’s content. However, she also has the potential to do well in an apartment with proper exercise, enrichment, and continued socialization. We have not seen Sweet Pea around children just yet, but based on her gentle and affectionate personality, we believe she has wonderful potential to become an amazing family dog. If you have children and would like to know how she does around them, let us know and we can arrange for her to meet some kiddos!

At the end of the day, Sweet Pea does not need anything extravagant. She simply wants someone who will give her time to settle in, help her continue discovering the world, and remind her every day that she is safe and loved. In return, she will bring her gentle puppy joy, bouncing floppy ears, and those soul-piercing teddy bear eyes into your life. Sweet Pea is ready to grow up beside a family who will treasure the sweet little angel she already is.

We are willing to test Sweet Pea with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about creating lasting matches between dog and family for long term success, and take the time to ensure each adoption is a fit through our matchmaking process.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!

We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
