Meet mavis
Mavis' first love is people but has adjusted to living with my 92 lb retriever. She came to the PNW from Oklahoma as a foster and immediately made friends with local dogs. But when my circumstances changed due to illness and I couldn't walk her as much, she developed leash aggression barks at other dogs. I've hired a trainer who says this is fear based and indicates that she was never socialized. Otherwise she is a wonderful dog inside the house. She wags her tail and has no hostility toward strangers. I find it impossible to walk the two dogs together due to their leaping after squirrels and rabbits. At four, I don't think she can ever develop into a dog park dog but she is very affectionate and could make an individual or family very happy.
