Colonel Sanders, aka Sanders, was found as a stray near a farmer’s chicken coop, hence his name. He follows the cues from his foster siblings, allowing his foster sister to be “leader of the pack.” Whether it’s time to go outside or time to go to bed, he lets the other dogs lead the way!

Since Sanders has become more comfortable around us, he likes to lie in our laps and snuggle between us in bed. He’s learning that being petted is a good thing, and when he’s ready to accept pets, he usually bows down and lies on the floor.

Sanders is crate-trained, though when he is first crated, he does not hesitate to voice his objections! Once we leave, he does settle down, and when we arrive back home, all is quiet.

Sanders is also housetrained but has occasional accidents as he’s still learning to indicate when he needs to go out. Sanders goes outside every 3-4 hours, and that helps reduce the number of accidents. Normally, he takes his potty breaks in the backyard. He walks well on leash, and we highly recommend using a harness when walking him. Sanders was not very comfortable walking on leash at the beginning but he is getting better - he definitely takes his cues from his siblings!

Sanders is looking for a home that will help him continue to build his confidence with patience and understanding so he can blossom even further. In return, he promises to be your loyal, loving companion.
