Meet acadia

Acadia is a sugar-sweet, tender-hearted young girl whose gentle personality quietly works its way into your heart. At just 8 months old and around 33 pounds, she has a soft, submissive nature and an incredibly loving disposition that makes her such a comforting companion to have around. Her foster describes her as deeply affectionate and very people-oriented — the kind of dog who lights up around her trusted humans, happily snuggles close, and greets her family with soft tail wags, sweet kisses, and excited little “tap dances” around mealtime. Acadia has a calm, sensitive spirit, but as she continues settling into foster care and feeling safer in the world around her, more and more of her playful, silly personality is beginning to shine through.Over the past few weeks, Acadia has continued making beautiful progress with her confidence. While she can still be cautious in new situations and around unfamiliar people, she is becoming more curious and brave every day. She recently met neighbors outside and chose to approach on her own to sniff hello before checking back in with her foster — a huge sign of growth for this thoughtful girl. Her foster has been slowly and carefully introducing her to new environments, experiences, and people at a pace that feels comfortable for her, and Acadia has been responding so well. She is beginning to realize that the world is not such a scary place after all. Though she still likes to keep her head on a swivel during walks, her leash skills continue improving steadily, and she is becoming easier and more relaxed to walk as her confidence grows.Acadia is also proving to be a wonderfully easy dog to live with. She settles well in her crate when left alone, enjoys relaxing around the house, and has a naturally low-to-moderate energy level that makes her a lovely companion for a calmer home. She does have bursts of joyful puppy energy and adorable zoomies, especially when exploring somewhere new like the beach, where she recently went from cautious curiosity to full happy zoom mode. She has also gotten very comfortable in the car and now happily hops in on her own for rides and adventures. Toys are still somewhat new to her, but she has recently started discovering how fun they can be — especially her stuffed rabbit, peanut butter bone, and any sticks she can proudly carry during walks. Watching her learn how to simply be a carefree young dog has been incredibly rewarding. In her foster home, Acadia conti
