Meet creed

Meet Creed ACCT-A-245047, a sweet, gentle, and loving young boy who is ready to find his forever home! Creed came to us as an owner surrender and has spent his life surrounded by his family, including children, teens, and other dogs. Though he’s had a few challenges adjusting to shelter life, his heart is full of love, and he craves affection and gentle guidance.

Creed is incredibly sweet and affectionate, always leaning into pets, belly rubs, and cuddles. He thrives on human connection and will happily follow you around, seeking attention and enjoying your company. While he can be a little nervous with new people or experiences, he responds beautifully to treats, patience, and calm encouragement. Once he trusts you, he melts into your presence and shows just how loving he can be.

Due to his sensitive nature, Creed is recommended for a home where he can continue building confidence at a calm, steady pace. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a big heart, a playful spirit, and a love for gentle snuggles, Creed is ready to meet you and show you just how sweet life can be with him by your side.

⭐Behavior Notes:

3/25/26 per staff: Such an improvement in behavior since arriving! He came right up to the front of the kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail wagging. Easy to leash and came right out of kennel. Walks right next to you on a loose leash. In the yard he stays by your side and leans into all handling. He is just the sweetest boy.

3-24-26 Per Volunteer: I was fortunate to spend some time with Creed tonight. Being that he is double blue, I was not sure what to expect. He exceeded all expectations. This sweet boy patiently waited while I leashed him and walked confidently through the kennels. Outside, we were near 2 different dogs and he seemed happy to see them (not reactive at all). While walking, at one point my leash slipped into his mouth and he did not do anything at all. He was easy to guide and would check in with me for reassurance. He happily accepted pets and was very sweet and loving. He took a treat gently from me. Going back into his kennel was a breeze as well. I really enjoyed my time with Creed and hope that others see the amazing dog that he is.

Per volunteer 3/24/26, "I took a creed outside on Monday, March 23. He hadn't been out in several days due to PCR Testing, so he had three clips, and he might be trying to stay house trained.
He was not scared of the leash at all. In fact, he was happy and excited when he saw me. He had his front paws on the kennel gate, very eager to come out. He gave me no issues with the leash and almost immediately exits from the kennel. He is still wearing his little pajama suit so he looks like a little baby goat.

He was wonderful on the leash, gave me no issues at all.
It was a cold day, and his suit feels very thin. I didn't think it was providing him any warmth, so I didn't keep him outside long.
We cuddled a bit in the grooming room. He is very sweet, and seems to crave affection - he just leaned, almost like melted, into me, and allowed almost full body handling and showed me his belly.
He is such a sweet boy!"

Per volunteer on 3/21/26:
I took outside Creed, bc he had two clips, and he was noted to be mostly house trained. He is an owner surrender because they were moving, and he is currently rescue only.
He has a note on his kennel packet: "go slow, use treats, he's unsure of leash and will leash bite."
When I showed him my leash, he bobbed his head, so I threw treats on the ground, and when his head was down, I was able to loop him. He stepped out and walked through the kennel slowly, but gave me no issue with the leash.
He was very easy to walk, he just walked by my side, loose leash.
I haven't seen him potty, but owner surrender notes say he was mostly house trained. He'll need a refresher on his housetraining skills once he leaves the shelter.
He's wearing a full onesie like pajamas, so i'm not sure how bad his skin issue is, but his neck looks just awful. In addition to the skin issues, he is very thin.
In the yard, he came right up to me and enjoy pets all over.
He sat for a treats and was fairly easy taking the treat. He followed me around the yard, since I was the treat master now.
He briefly chase a little orange ball and held in his mouth then dropped it. Other than sniffing, he had no interest in a rope toy or a stuffed toy I showed him.
He was very content to stand in front of me and just get pets.
He walked great going into the shelter, and had no issues going into his kennel, so perhaps the leash issue occurred when he had just arrived and was still scared. I later confirmed he is not on any kind of behavioral drugs, but since he is on meds for his skin, maybe they contributed to him being less anxious with the leash.

He's a sweet and gentle boy, still learning about life at the shelter.

Per staff 3/19/26: Creed was at the front of the kennel when i approached with soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail wagging. He dodged the leash when i presented, but when leashed up he came right out. Walked with a loose leash through the kennels and outside. In the yard i crouched down and he came over leaned into me soliciting for pets. When i would stop petting he would lean in for more. He remained loose with soft eyes and mid tail wags. Brought him back inside to the office and with assistance of spray cheese he let me put a onesie on him. We walked around the shelter showing off his new outfit. He went up to every single person soliciting pets from them! When it was time to return to his kennel he went right back in and i took the leash off with my hand!

Per staff 3/18/26: Approached kennel flashed my leash he started low growling and put his head downward as soon as he seen the leash. closed kennel door three times let him have some time to think. Got leash around his neck and paused because if i cinched it to soon he would back out of the leash. Finally almost got the leash cinched and he stepped on it and in one swift motion the leash fell to his waist. He immediately started to leash bite and snapping at the air. Pause he calmed down. ACA helped me double leash him and get him to sx and back into his kennel. He also fights going back into his kennel.

Per staff 3/17/26: Kennel Presentation: Was sitting on the bed when I approached his kennel. Ears to the side with squinty eyes. I tossed a treat and he ate it.

Leash Skills: When I opened the kennel door he retreated to the back side of the kennel. Ears back, squinty eyes, tail down and low growled. I tossed a free treats and he came forward to eat them. It took about 2 minutes of slowly treat luring to leash up. Once leash was on he backed all the way up with tense body. I used light leash pressure, he pulled back then started to walk. Used lots of treats to keep walking. He will stop and pull back however with treats he continued to walk with minimal pulling.

Sociability: Brought to the exam room to have the doctor check him out. His body was tense, squinty eyes, ears to the side and tail down. He continued to eat treats while we were in there. He came over and I was able to gently gently pet under his chin.

Play: n/a

Dog Interaction: No dogs were out when we went out.

Return to Kennel: He walked right into his kennel the leash was clipped and slipped right off.

Color Level: Exp Blue

Per staff 3/16/26: Unable to complete triage exam on 3/15/26 due to Pt flailing and biting leash. Accepted pastrami and cheese.

Per staff 3/15/26: I was passing by the flex space while the ACA's had Creed on leash. Anytime there was pressure on the leash he was bucking back on his hind legs and biting at the leash. I offered some treats which he ate. He was sitting down and avoidant of eye contact. He gave a low growl. Attempted to treat lure to the a blanket to magic carpet ride. He began to flail again and bite the leash. We had pastrami which help get him moving. Occasionally would stop with lowered head, wide eyes and tail tucked. Brought to the exam room to be checked out for the hair loss. They attempted to muzzle for a skin scrape he was snapping at the muzzle. Per the vet gave nexguard for now and will try again later.

Per owner 3/15/26: Creed was surrendered by his owner due to housing issues and was with his family his entire life. He lived with kids, tweens, teens, and other dogs. They noted that he is mostly housebroken with occasional accidents, is fully crate trained, medium energy, and walks calmly on leash.

He knows: Knows his name, Down, Lay down, No, Stay, Wait, Heel. He likes rope toys, balls, squeaky toys, exploring outdoors, playing fetch, Playing tug-of-war, Going for walks, Running/jogging, Going to the dog park, Napping, Playing with other animals, Being petted, Getting a bath. He has no behavioral issues, has never bit, and is nervous/fearful when meeting strangers, children, other dogs and cats.

His owners noted that he would do well in a big family with children and that he is "just so cute."
